I am proud to say that I have achieve my second new years resolution… which was to build my own EA.

Ok… maybe not from the ground up, I kind of cheated a bit in my quest to achieve this goal. I took another EA, tweaked with it, add some rim, add some nitrous, change the engine to a V8 and add a coat of new paint. Voila!!! A beautiful masterpiece…. which I named it aQuila.

Initially I wanted to name it Megan Fox… but thought I might be sued if this beauty proved hotter than Megan Fox.

Anyway, I also added another ‘computer system’ to monitor this lean mean beautiful machine… This EA works in parallel with aQuila to ensure my account to get fu(ked.

I have been testing the main EA for about 2 months now and tweaking it here and there was not easy…

It all started with a busted account and myfxbook chart below shows my progress.. :)

My first attempt[Note: Deleted the chart below because it is cramping myfxbook, this screenshot will be suffice for my journal record purpose]

Forex Martingale Showcase V – Martin Locker King

I have a dream that one day we can see profits in our account utilizing the best technology in the forex industry that is the forex expert adviser and live happily ever after…

Siggh… how I wish it was that simple. And like the struggle of Martin Luther King, IT AIN’T GONNA BE EASY, as I continue to search for the best ea and profit from it…

Coming back to showcasing this other Martingale EA…

This EA came from the same developer as FX Pitbull. As the same story goes, the developer was kind enough to issue a free copy of this EA to me. And as the same story goes again, I have tested it but never got around to post anything about it until today.

I’m going to go straight to the point…. This EA is damn expensive compared to Pitbull… $399 vs $199 and this EA only trades ONE currency pair vs Pitbull ALL currency pair.

Took a quick look at the codes and I believe that the algorithm between both MLK and Pitbull are somewhat similar… but it seems the both the characteristic of the trades differs between both these EA.

While I do not understand the logic behind this… I thought it would be interesting to do some analysis.

Mini Compliment…

Filed Under (Passing Thoughts) by Casey on 06-07-2010

Well… today I got a very interesting surprise…

MyFXBook just release a new improvement to their every improving site. They are the best… BEST BEST BEST!!

I just love them…

Anyway… there is a reason for me to compliment myfxbook. You see… When they added a new vouching system guess who they choose to be made an example of…

YES… Yours truly…

This new vouching system as the blog puts it ‘… will help you identify experienced and trusted users and hopefully it will speed up your learning curve by knowing who to listen to :)

Well of all the people they choose… :)

However… this vouching system only works when a person who has already been vouched for vouches for you. So myFXBook starts with vouching for people in the community. Only then can this vouching system starts.

So… if you haven’t been vouch for you can’t vouch for others.

And unfortunately for me… While I maybe an example used in their explaination… I was not vouch for by myfxbook… :(

No green bar… how sad…

But what the hell… these sort of thing is just small thing to boost the pride. I already got my pride boosted with me being the goat… :)

With that… I guess I have just  made myself a good example of ‘A fox that could not reach the grapes’… hehe

Slicing it Both Ways

Forex Martingale Showcase III – The New Megan EA

Now this is an interesting EA which I stumble upon. Initially I thought it just another Martingale EA, but I soon discover it was not your ordinary Martingale EA.

Why? Because this particular EA slice it both ways.

Most of the normal Martingale EA run on a basis of having a drawdown, while taking a fix small profit. And that is what I consider to be an ordinary Martingale EA. But what is not so ordinary about this Martingale EA is that it also does take the other way, which I will define this as the opposite of drawdown. This EA also have a ‘draw-up’

While drawdown means a -ve equity balance, a draw-up would mean a +ve equity balance. Hmmm…. somehow or rather I have never heard of a term which describe a +ve equity balance.

Anyway… apart from this EA, there is another commercial martingale EA that works on this principle which I will write about it in the next showcase.

Ok back to this new Megan EA.

Last month I entered a contest to see what I was made off and now the contest with MyFXBook.com is over…

I used different type of EA to see and utilize an idea to see if by managing these so call forex robot soldiers, how well will it perform to allow me to win the prize money.

Sad to say… I lost.

So… what did I learn from this.

  1. To be humble.
  2. There is still a lot of things for me to learn.
  3. My idea is $hit and will need to fine tune it
  4. Back to basic go back to discovery
  5. Learn more and engage in more discussion forum

Time to See What I am Made Off

Filed Under (Journal) by Casey on 28-04-2010

How time files. It has already been about 2 year since I started fooling around with forex EA and about 4 years give and take since I learned about forex. So where am I now…

Well… if ever my account was ever an indication… I would say nowhere close to what I imagine it to be since 4 years ago when I learned about forex.

Ahh… the dream… the dream of living it rich with forex… But it was only a dream. Reality does not really reflect fantasy no… Took me four years to look back and think how foolish I was to have this sort of dream.

Now having said that, while it was foolish of me to think that I can be filthy rich with forex it was however what took me right up to here in the first place. I guess with out that initial dream I would not be here writing on a blog. Ok.. writing and trading forex are two different thing. But it was also the blogging that help me spur and persist with forex. Especially forex ea.

Anyway, if you are not aware, myFXBook is currently running a forex contest. http://www.myfxbook.com/contests which is about to begin on the 5 May 2010.

By My Powers Combine

Filed Under (Journal) by Casey on 23-04-2010

At the beginning of this year, I reorganized my accounts in such a way that I wanted to segregate my EAs to my live accounts. In order to monitor my performances especially with Alpari UK I split my $$$ into a few account with Alpari and FXOpen.

It was manageable at that time and seem to be going well but I suddenly realize that by doing so I wasn’t utilizing my margin accordingly OR rather effectively. Especially with my Alpari account. I was pulling only 2% on a 3% – 4% drawdown.

Most traders would say that is good… but somehow or rather I felt that it could be better. Secondly, I have to calculate the drawdown manually which makes the figure above very arbitrarily.

I am not all that great in calculating drawdown… so that figure might either be too high or to low.

Failed Invasion

Before I close my first quarter for 2010, I thought I should pen this down. I have been putting this off for quite sometime. It all started a long time ago that I did an experiment which I had name it EURO Blitzkrieg.

It was something like my Silly Scalping where I pit all the EA that traded EURCHF on one platform or one account. With Euro Blitzkrieg, I pitted all the EA that traded EURUSD.

From my previous invasion of EURUSD, it was a failed attempted.

And it took me about a few months to re conceptualize this idea. And so in the beginning of this year. I restarted my second wave to push through my battle with EURUSD.

I had attempted initially with PipMiner and ForexBrokerBuster but FBB was neither going here nor there and on top of that FBB was said to be a clone or rather a copy EA of another free EA. (Don’t really want to go in detail with regards to this anymore). I stopped FBB not because it had a drawdown, but it seems to not perform as expected.

The invasion began with a very strong results. But drawdowns from FBB made me stop it last month. And pitted ScalperPro and Primeval on my list.

Unfortunately, the next buster was PipMiner, the drawdown was heavier than FBB. It reminded me of EuroBlaster, where it takes 4 position and scalping profits but large stop loss. Same concept but different name.

And so… with that I only have two small minions trying to push EURUSD through…

Sighh….. Maybe I should give FBB another shot.

The sharp drawdown is mainly due to PipMiner… And nothing else. If experiences have proved to me what needs to be done, is to take out the EA that is just too risky. I believe PipMiner is one of them.

And so… goes my failed invasion….

Knight of The Round Table

This is the most frustrating EA I have found so far… Good profit wise… but frustratingly slow….

I set this EA out to work since the end of last year…  but it’s moving terribly slow. I really really really wanted to increase the lot size… I am afraid to do so. This EA has not been trading long enough to know what sort of drawdown I would be expecting.

However… as you can see, the graph is pointing to the heavens. This is not your usual scalping EA that whack the currency pair on a 15m timeframe. This is a ‘knight’ that whacks the currency pair on an hourly timeframe. And it only trades in the direction of a trend.

Let me start the story of this EA…

I got this EA like from Bernard, the guy who developed Excalibur. He was also one of the few people I still continue to keep in touch since since the days I started this blog…

I previously was not interested in his Excalibur EA. That was because it was by good coincidence when I was looking at it… His Excalibur EA was like plunging back into the lake of no return.  It has not been doing that well and have not found a statement which shows interesting results. And on top of that, it was really expensive at that time.

It was at end of last year when I was browsing around with myFXBook. That I stumble upon his interesting graph. After reading some thread on myfxbook, I found out that chart was from Bernard. So I bump him an email and said that I was interested with Lancelot…

He was kind enough to give me a good discount on it. So I happily took his offer and bang it onto my live account. I was informed that the demo version was on Alpari. So why should I redo a demo test when the test was already done.

On myfxbook thread which talks about his system, he has his share of fans and he also has his share of foes. Read some of thread in myfxbook and one can gauge a few reactions… For me… well… innocent until proven guilty.

Check out his portfolio here on myfxbook (http://www.myfxbook.com/members/Pheniox) and you can see that not all of his EA are doing that well.  His Lancelot is the only one besides his KA System which he has not release it yet.

While my current position with Alpari is still holding well *fingers crossed* I really hope that it will not end up like his Live FXCM account… I really do not want to see the tip of Lancelot’s blade.

Well… as always…. only time will tell me how well Lancelot will start kicking some metal butt.

One thing about the approach by Bernard is that, he seems to test out the EA first before releasing his EA. He constantly test and test and test.

When I first bought his EA, he had only optimized Lancelot for two currency pair EURUSD and USDCHF. But a few weeks ago… he had release the settings for the rest of the currency pair it was at that time that I started seeing some activity on my account.

I guess as an automatic trader who knows not much about programming my own EA. I can appreciate his effort in testing it out first before releasing it.

Because you cost me money
Show me, how my PROFITS can be
Tell me b-ling
‘Cause I need to know now what to do

[Repeat CHORUS]
All my PROFITS are very small (And I…)
I must confess, that this can’t be (this can’t be…)
I paid $99 bucks every 3 months
Give me a sign
How to Bling this Back to Life!

Oh Forex, b-ling,
[dam dam-dam dup]
Oh b-ling, b-ling, (Ah, yeah, yeah…)

[dam dam-dam dup]
Oh b-ling, b-ling,

Oh Forex B-ling

I must confess, that my Profit sense
Is keeping me live….
That is why I still believe
That this will revive

So that is why, I feel the need (Feel the need…)
To take out Evolution and Freedom
Give me a sign
