Going VPS…

Previously I decided against subscribing to VPS because I calculated that my profits were not enough to cover the monthly cost. That was the justification I gave. But now after doing more analysis on all my MT4 platform. I decided that it is time to go VPS.

Here is one of the reason why

Organizing My Demo

I started a new page title Demo Account and changed my Performance page title to Live Account.

This I hope would keep me more organize and more focus on testing some new and exotic EAs. Last month if it was ever a lesson learned is to keep things easy, focus and consistent. I am not sure if this will achieve it, but one things for sure. I can monitor it and keep myself accountable for all testing records that I put on my blog.

This I hope also will keep me from being too impulsive and start putting onto my Live account without clear reason to do so. Just because one EA starts to show good profit for a week does not mean that it should be straight away profitable when it is live.

Another thing is also to ensure the settings I am using on the demo will also be consistent when I put it live. Tweak only on demo and once I am satisfied, I will confirm the settings.

Pheww… I think I got everything settled for the time month.Well, except for FXOpen. I am still trying to confirm what EA I should put it in to test.

When I open an account with FXOpen, it was meant to reflect Alpari UK because of the fix spread. Just wanted to see if FXOpen can produce a better result. But…. unfortunately, I had to be dumb enough to opt for a standard account instead of a micro account which put a wrench into my plans for FXOpen this month.

So I shall take it easy with FXOpen… Sort out one thing at a time.

Again… hoping this will pan out well this month.

I really hesitated doing this performance review of my last months trading activity. Embarrassing… but it has to be done. The only way for me to move forward. With my game plan drafted. Now I need to start managing my robots properly.

Ha… it’s nice being the boss. I can kick and screw the EA if they are not performing for me :)

But I think I will treat these robot trading like soldiers. Beef them up during demo testing and then send them to war on my live account.

Ok… enough day dreaming. It’s time to count the casualties.

As of End March 08 this is my standing…

So sad… Took out my last two months profit Ouch!! 413.07

The Same Feeling

Yesterday was really stressful for me. I had this feeling sometime ago last year when I accidentally messed up my FXDD account. Well I posted it under ‘Dumb dumb

Anyway… this time round. I don’t think I should ignore this feeling.

Yesterday was a really bad day for me because I took a heavy loss. My account took a $85 loss and well, my Alpari account took a $60 loss. Total of $140… While it is normal for my Alpari account since I am taking on a bigger lot size vs a bigger equity. My FXDD account is different.

My FXDD account runs on a very small capital and the minimum lot is 0.1. Testing at that lot size for a very small account for is a grave mistake which I overlooked. I am running both my FAPTurbo (cracked) and Piptronic. Together the my loses came to about $85. That is what happens when one overtrade…. sighhh… even if I was trading with a robot. I really really need to money manage… By the way, I don’t turn on Money Management on the settings… :) I like to be in control.. but in this situation. My stupidity took control once again.

Anyway, I have to stop Piptronic since the stop loss is bigger than FAPTurbo. But I am still running Piptronic on a FXDD demo account just to see how it pans out. Maybe when my equity is much bigger, then maybe I’ll revisit Piptronic for my FXDD account.

On top of that, I am running Piptronic on my live Masterforex account. And results are pretty decent. So we shall see. I notice that piptronic in Masterforex does react the same way as my FXDD. About 80% of the trades are similar in timing. Maybe I should just focus Piptronic on Masterforex….

Geesss…. what a day… so stressful.

EA Xtreme EURGBP

Ok… this is another one of the most interesting EA I have come across… EA Xtreme EURGBP. If you visit their site http://fxgtc.com you will see that it performances is really really outstanding… Good backtesting… and it is selling at $499 a pop!! This is how confident there were with this EA.

There were also posting forward tests… I was caught with this but at $499…. erm…. kinda hesitant. But luck has it I found the free copy over the internet… (Oh and Piptronic too was found free on the internet, I have uploaded both these EA) Don’t know if it was wise or not, but if you go to their sales site, you will see that they are selling not only the ex4 files but they will also GIVE TO YOU the source code for this EA. At $499… maybe it is worth it, but somehow or rather other some ppl were generous enough to float it free on the internet…

Anyway this version that I got over the internet could not be backtested. It has something to do with the dll files. So, I skipped the first procedure of backtesting till 1999. (The site has already posted this backtest. I guess I have to take their word for it) And dump it into all my broker. Unfortunately, again due to the misfortune of the 3 days internet disconnection, I manage only to salvage some results. And the results was EA Xtreme only works well only with Alpari…

Alpari (UK) (Click graph below to see detail demo forward testing statement)

So what else can I say, I ran this EA LIVE!!!

Rumor has it that this Xtreme is the backbone of FAPTurbo… but…. rumors could only be rumours or could it be true… I notice Xtreme only trades around the same time as FAPTurbo. And it is said that FAPTurbo only trade on low volume hour. Coincidently, that is what XTreme does. Both FAPTurbo and Xtreme trades the EURGBP pair, FAPTurbo trades an additional 3 pair. Lastly, both these EA trades very well with Alpari UK and not any of my other brokers account… COINCIDENCES? :)

Live Account
You will be able to identify the trades for this EA as I only traded 0.01 lots on my alpari account. If it proves profitable, then I would increase the lots…

VPS Revisits…

Filed Under (Journal) by Casey on 20-03-2009

On my previous post ‘3 Quiet Days ‘ I mentioned that I was pretty serious about forex business and should consider VPS (Virtual Private Server) to ensure that I do not miss any potential profitable trades especially with FAPTurbo…

I have been away on a holiday these past few days, and was very fortunate that my desktop and internet connection did not screw on me and my EA was trading very well for me. Raking profits while I am on holiday… ahh… such is life.

But before I went on holiday, I did a lot of research on VPS had sometime for somemore personal thoughts about this. Why?

Well, that is because of the monthly fee that I am going to incur. The best VPS in terms of service and $$$ is VPSLAND.COM not only recommended by http://ckowyong.com/blog/ but also by a lot of other forex community of having a good service and price factor. Now $18 bucks per month should be peanuts compared to a big account. But for an account like mine of total $3000, trading at mostly 0.1 mini lots… I am not sure…

Further more my IBFX account which is running Don Steintz seems to not been running well and some digging further into this EA, many revealing information has surface with regards to Don Steintz’s EA…

Anyway… while FAPTurbo has been very profitable on my Alpari account, my other account seems to be in the reds… So does this justify me commiting another $18 bucks per month?

So far I am up $300 on my alpari account this month… but in total together with all my other broker, I am only up $180. Thus, at the time of writing I am committing 10% of my profits just to ensure that I will be getting what…. erm… maybe 5 bucks per day… or less.

Don’t know… So until I can make some sense out of all this in terms of dollars and cents and reorganize myself again especially with Don Steitz’s EA, I will put my VPS search on my KIV tray…

Serious as I maybe in making money, I guess I have to be practically no??

Organizing Demo

Phew… I never knew demo-ing a few EA can be quite tough or rather tedious.

Well, I have been trying to demo test other so called Best Forex EA around to see if they are actually the ‘Best’ forex EA.

Ok, granted I am a scum because these forex EA are EA which I was able to download for free. Anyhow, scum as a scum can be, I needed to find out if it is actually as good as they say.

Initially I started out dumping a few EA on one demo account with different lot size as a way to identify if it was profitable at the end of my test period. But this is too tedious so I scraped that idea and a few weeks of demo testing.

Now I have open 6 demo accounts on three main broker that I believe to be interesting.

FXDD, Alpari and Masterforex.

I dismiss Interbank is because I notice, on other forex review, interbank does not seem to show very profitiable result for EA tested on them. My first hand experiences with Interbank with FAPTurbo also did not yield such encouraging results.

All Set for 2009

Filed Under (Performance) by Casey on 25-02-2009

Yes, it maybe a bit late. But I guess it’s better late than never. I am all set for the rest of 2009. That is with regards to my forex escapade.

I have already improve my blog theme to accommodate both a download page and a performance page.

Looking back at 2008 and last month Jan 2009. My forex performances with EA has not been too good. But since I have been having a lot of confidences with FAPTurbo. This month has been pretty interesting in terms of depositing more capital into my broker account.

I have redeposited $450 into my FXDD account. Since FXDD does allow deposit by Paypal, it would be interesting to see it grow and then hope to have a monthly withdrawal into my Paypal account. As you can see, I am not doing to bad…

I also deposited $30 into my MasterForex account. I had some Liberty Reserve in my account, and I thought ‘Hey! Rather than letting it sit there, might as well reopen my micro account with MasterForex ‘ And with that I did. But my initial motivation was that MasterForex does allow scalping. And since FAPTurbo is all about scalping, why not try and see how it is performing. Again, so far so good…

As for my IBFX account, Don Steinitz MTF Forex Robot Trader is doing pretty shitty for me at the moment. From 2000 to 1600 in 2008. So I told myself, f%$^ it. I am going to see if Alpari can make more money for me with FAPTurbo.

With that in mind, I have withdrawn $900 from IBFX and moved it to my Alpari account. And what a surprise I got. I am not too sure what kind of promotion Alpari is giving, but they added another 10% to my deposit from IBFX. In that instances, I actually made and extra $50 bucks after deduction bank wire (in/out) fee, not bad huh.

*Update: Just visited Alpari’s site. New layout and all… Apparently they are celebrating their 10th anniversary. So that explain the 10% credit bonus… after reading the fine print, the condition is that one need to have a 100 standard lot turnover within the month of March 09 in order to enjoy or withdraw the credit bonus. I guess it would be difficult for me to achieve that with my current turnover. Geess… this is just like Casino Credit Bonus… Sighhh… Oh well, let see if they withdraw this credit by the end of March 09.

Having said that, I also just recently increased my trading lot with Alpari, from 0.02 to 0.1. So at this point in writing, it is not exactly doing to well for me. I have one floating lot which I would expect it to close very very soon at a lost. But let’s see how it will fair come the end of this month.

With all of this in place, lets see how I perform. My target is to firstly recoup my lost capital in 2008.
