I am one of the users mentioned in support's email as renewing monthly license, in my case every month since Jan, so you can be sure I'm happy with performance. I just stumped up for the full version of Winalot and will do the same with Eazegor when my account has grown a bit more. Eazegor and Winalot take the top two slots in my Top Ten on thebotfarm - I think the important point is that the developer is constantly re-optimising for current market conditions - and sends updates even to his existing users, so the results from years ago probably aren't really an obstacle.

Thanks for the review, Casey. It comes across as being a very honest appraisal. I'm all for constructive criticism because this helps us to improve things.

There are probably several points worthy of comment, but I'll try to clarify the situation on just a couple of them for now.

Firstly the issue of validating the login through our server. This is something which happens just once a day and takes just milli-seconds. Similarly the licence is rechecked once a day thereafter. It's certainly not dependent upon there being a continuous 24/7 response from our server and it doesn't slow the operation of the EA at all.

It's an unfortunate sign of the times that this is necessary simply for authors to protect their intellectual property rights. Believe me, it costs a lot of money to set up and I'd rather that it wasn't necessary, but if anybody's serious about their product ..........

That aside, there are a lot of benefits to using this approach. It's certainly not new and the majority of software companies use it. Have you ever wondered how McAfee didtribute their updates and tell you when your AV software is about to expire? The not-so-obvious benefits are that we can renew licences automatically without needing to re-issue files. In future we will be able to provide notification of updates via a pop-up message box and use our server to relay updated optimised settings automatically straight into the EA without the user needing to do anything.

I personally feel those benefits far outweigh any perceived downside.

Regarding poorer performance in years gone by, I'm not really sure what to make of this in all honesty. The latest versions of Winalot have been optimised over an 18 month period, so I feel that they are very robust. EAzeGor is always going to be optimised to the price action of the last few weeks so that it maintains strong performance going forwards. It's no surprise therefore that the settings for June 2009 didn't work very well 4 or 5 years ago. At that time, however, the users would have been using different settings which would have worked then so the results are really meaningless.

As I said to Casey, I think too much emphasis is put on what happened several years ago. The fact is that we're trading TODAY.

This is a bit like putting mirrors in cars. Who cares where you've been? It's where you're going that's important! :)

If anybody has any other questions, please fire away. I'll be happy to try to answer them.

@ square root
U could use VPS,

B U T

the real problem is, as Casey said, the worst case on the providers server side....
I would never ever risk my money with such an EA

I tried a previous version of WinALot for the one month fee. It places one trade during the asian session with SL and TP near excellent S/R levels. It is profitable until the market starts to reverse. One trade will remain open while a second trade is placed in the opposite direction. This is a problem for US brokers since hedging has been forbidden. Regarding the server connection on newer version ... I prefer a standalone EA. My broadband hiccups every once in awhile.

Very honest review. The problem with backtesting is we will never know whether those bad curves from a few years back is really how the EA would have performed in such market conditions or just an inherent limitation of MT4 in backtesting longer history. I wish the code could be programmed in EasyLanguage for TradeStation and get a "second opinion" of charting platforms.
